FAQs

Why would I need a corporate DVD?

A professionally made corporate DVD can greatly enhance your corporate image. They enable you to demonstrate your product in action, with testimonials of satisfied customers, they can be used to teach skills to a large and geographically diverse audience, and hence save on the large expenses involved with repeated training of staff on new products/services within the company. They can also save on the expense of travelling form location to location to convey the same message across the same area.

How much does a programme cost?

This is the question which we are asked most frequently. Well, how long is a piece of string? It is one which is very difficult to answer because a budget is tailored to each specific programme. If you have an idea of how much you can spend, we will work out a creative treatment and budget which is affordable for you. Your bottom line will determine which elements can be incorporated into the programme. For example the use of a presenter or elaborate computer graphics will increase the budget. Also the number of shooting days and locations required to complete the programme needs to be taken into account. As a guideline filming alone can account for as much as 50% of the total budget, closely followed by the offline edit or rough cut.

How long does it take to make a programme?

On average a programme can be completed within 5 to 10 weeks, shorter if required but it all depends on the agreed approach and much of it is in your hands. In order to start pre-production and scripting we need as much information from you as possible. The first draft of the script takes several days to research and complete, and we would usually expect to go through two or three drafts before you approve it. The number of filming and editing days is, again, dependent on the agreed treatment and budget for your particular project. We will take into account your specific deadline and schedule the programme accordingly.

What do you need from me?

Send us information about your company and the product or service you wish to promote. We will put our thinking caps on and come up with an outline concept specifically for you. This idea, however, is not cast in stone. If you do not agree with the suggested approach, don't dismiss us. We are always willing to listen to your concerns and offer another suggestion which may be more appropriate for your needs.

What can we expect?

The shooting dates will be agreed with you before we descend on your premises and it is best all staff have been made aware that we are coming. We try to cause as little disruption as possible and travel with only the kit we need to complete the job. But, we do run cables to power the lights and will probably need to tidy or move various items to compose the shot. Filming is not an exact and precise science and involves several takes for everything to fall into place, so please be patient. Otherwise, it is the finished programme that may suffer.

What is the lifespan of the programme?

For many companies, producing a DVD is an investment. So, when completing our initial research, we will advise you how to maximise the shelf-life of the programme. Figures relating to a specific year, for example, will date the programme and if these figures are not essential we can recommend an alternative way to communicate your message. There are a number of ways to get the most from your programme. Once an initial programme has been produced, further versions can be completed with a considerable reduction in cost. With our in-house digital editing technology, adding or lifting sections can be completed fairly simply. Things to bear in mind are the costs for a music licence for each version and additional shooting which may be required. However, even taking these into consideration, it is still considerably cheaper than the cost to start a programme from scratch.

How do I go about running off copies?

Once your programme has been approved and edited, we create a master copy which remains at McVeigh Digital for future copies. We offer very competitive prices for duplication runs of between 1 and 100,000 copies, and the price includes full labelling and a choice of library case or card slip sleeve. Video sleeves can also be designed and printed in full colour to enhance your company's image and tie in with existing corporate literature. If you have an idea how many copies you will need at the outset of the project, we can offer discounted prices when budgeting the programme.
